“Privacy law is changing in Australia, with huge increases in penalties since major data breaches in 2022 and further changes in the pipeline.

Consultants and small business owners need to immediately increase their knowledge and understanding of the personal information collected, how it is collected, what is done with it, how long it is needed and what is done with it when no longer needed.

This also means consultants and small business owners need to understand their privacy policies and whether the policy accurately reflects what is done, and whether it is clear enough for customers to understand.”
